Alice J. Kirby, age 88 of Lynnfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 18, 1928 in Chelsea, the daughter of the late William H. and Ellen (McCarrick) Tiernan. She was raised and educated in Revere and graduated from the Immaculate Conception School. Alice J. (Tiernan) Kirby - Lynnfield

Alice J. Kirby, age 88 of Lynnfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 18, 1928 in Chelsea, the daughter of the late William H. and Ellen (McCarrick) Tiernan. She was raised and educated in Revere and graduated from the Immaculate Conception School. Alice had worked for many years in the Library for the Lynn School Department. Alice was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Assumption Parish in Lynnfield. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Alice was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Paul A. Kirby. She is survived by her daughters; Janice A. Sheehan and her husband, John J. of Lynnfield and Mary E. Wall and her husband, Garrett J. of Peabody, her brother, William H. Tiernan of Ipswich, her grandchildren; Michael Sheehan and his wife, Jennifer and their son, Benjamin, Brian Sheehan and his wife, Janine and their son, Jack, Amanda Kirby Limoli and her husband, John and their children, Landon and Ava, Brendan Kirby and his wife, Daniella, Christopher Kirby, Jaclyn Kirby and Ryan Wall. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law; Mary Valeri, Dorothy Kirby and Jane Kirby, as well as Alice's life-long friend, Anna Loughlin. Alice was predeceased by her beloved son, Paul S. Kirby.

Family and friends are invited to attend Alice's visitation on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 9 - 10:15 AM at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, MA 01904. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at Our Lady of Assumption Parish, 17 Grove Street in Lynnfield. Burial will follow the Mass in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Lynn.
