Barbara Louise (Cryan) Bransfield, 87 years of Topsfield and formerly of Lynn, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Barb was the beloved wife of William J. Bransfield, her late husband, and with whom she enjoyed 63 years of marriage. Barbara was born on September 29, 1929 in Lynn to Andrew J. Cryan and Elizabeth C. "Lil" (Sullivan) Cryan.

She leaves five children: Kevin and his partner, Lucy, of Topsfield, Keith and his wife, Maryann, of Lynn, Karen Picone, of Peabody, Kirk and his wife, Catherine, of Lynn, and Kenneth and his wife, Dorine, of Lynn. Also 12 grandchildren: James and his wife, Melissa, Robert and his wife, Magen, Timothy, Michael and his wife, Colleen, Kevin and his wife, Sandy, Bryant and his wife, Amy, Michaella, David, Ethan, Liam, Eric, and Alexandra plus 7 great-grandchildren. Barbara was predeceased by her four sisters Margaret McCloskey, Mary Waldron, Lillian Carr and Claire Halligan. Barbara also will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and many close friends.

Barbara resided most of her life in Lynn, attended Lynn schools graduating from Lynn English High School in 1946 and Salem State University in 1950. She married William Bransfield in 1951 and moved to the family home on Den Quarry Road where she raised her family. She taught business education and later when she returned to teaching was a reading specialist at the Washington Community School. She was an excellent typist often assisting by typing papers, at the last minute that were due the next day. She loved to laugh and entertain her family and friends wherever she was. Barb seldom missed an event where one of her children or grandchildren were involved. High School or college, hockey rink, auditorium, gymnasium, baseball or football field, she was a proud spectator and supporter of all. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of her life. Barb and Bill enjoyed many years at their homes on the Cape Cod and in Naples, Florida where their friends and family would gather while on vacation. They enjoyed traveling and visiting her family and friends across the country, especially in Atlanta and San Francisco. Barb also enjoyed crafts and was an avid reader all her life. She spent more than 25 winters in Naples, Florida and more than 50 summers in West Dennis, Ma. She lived a full and happy life and the world is a better place as a result.

A Funeral Mass in Barb's honor will be celebrated on Saturday, August 12, 2017 in Our Lady of the Assumption, 17 Grove St. Lynnfield at 11 am. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn. Family and friends are invited to attending Visiting Hours in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. LYNN on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 am.
