Mrs. Eleanor C. (McGinn) McDonald, age 81, of Lynn, died Thursday in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas W. McDonald.
Born in Lynn, Eleanor was the daughter of the late James J. and Anna (Heffernan) McGinn. She attended Lynn Schools, was a graduate of Lynn English High School Class of 1950 and resided in Lynn her entire life.

Mrs. Eleanor C. (McGinn) McDonald, age 81, of Lynn, died Thursday in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas W. McDonald.
Born in Lynn, Eleanor was the daughter of the late James J. and Anna (Heffernan) McGinn. She attended Lynn Schools, was a graduate of Lynn English High School Class of 1950 and resided in Lynn her entire life.
Prior to her retirement, she worked at the Lynn City Hall as a clerk in the Treasurer's Office and later at the Warren 5 Cent Savings Bank in Peabody. She also worked for Kennett MacDonald Century 21 Real Estate in Conway, NH.
Eleanor was a communicant of St. Pius V Church and a member of the Sodality, where she served as Secretary from 1958-1959. She enjoyed reading and doing puzzles. She was also an expert Seamstress and also made clothes.
She leaves her children: Daniel T. McDonald, US Government and his wife Donna of Ashburn, VA, Lynn Fire Chief James E. McDonald and his wife Maryann of Lynn, Patricia M. Allen of Frisco, TX, Maureen A. Weeks and her late husband John of Lynn, JoAnn E. Ferruolo and her husband Lou of Manchester, NH and Nancy E. Gheringhelli of Lynn. She was the sister to Michael G. McGinn and his wife Katherine of Warwick, RI and Patricia Mooers of Pelham, NH. Sister in law to Paul H. McDonald and his wife Sandra of Bolton. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister to the late Mary McGinn and Eileen Coffey.
Eleanor's Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Tuesday at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 11 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 4:00-8:00 PM. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the John Weeks Endowment Fund c/o St. Pius V Parish, 215 Maple St. Lynn, MA 01904.
